Confirmation at the Temple Church

Almighty and everliving God,
who hast vouchsafed to regenerate all these thy servants
by water and the Holy Ghost,
and hast given them forgiveness of all their sins:
strengthen them, we beseech thee,
with the Holy Ghost the Comforter,
and daily increase in them thy manifold gifts of grace:
the spirit of wisdom and understanding;
the spirit of counsel and ghostly strength;
the spirit of knowledge and true godliness;
and fill them, O Lord, with the spirit of thy holy fear,
now and for ever. Amen.

• Most of our candidates for Confirmation are either a member of one of the two Inns of Court (Inner and Middle Temple) or in the close family of a member; or a chorister here or member of a chorister’s family; or a member of our regular congregation.
• Children are generally confirmed when they are 10 or older.
• Candidates who have not been baptised are baptised at the start of the Confirmation Service.

We are glad that a good proportion of our confirmation candidates are able to return occasionally or regularly to the Temple Church and so become part of our community here
