The Temple Players is a professional instrumental ensemble founded in 2006 by James Vivian and the baroque cellist Joseph Crouch.
The Temple Players presented a series of concerts exploring the cantata with soloists such as Claire Booth and Robin Blaze. They have also accompanied the choir in concert and in the liturgy, most recently in Vivaldi’s Gloria. In 2008, they performed the highly successful new and fully-staged production of Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas in Middle Temple Hall.
I have never heard Dido so stylishly, eloquently and movingly rendered. (The Times Literary Supplement)
A high point of a year-long festival, was an uncommonly satisfying, and very beautiful account of Dido & Aeneas. Great event! … every tempo sounded natural, unhurried yet lively. (Opera)
