Temple Singers

Founded in 2006, the professional vocal ensemble Temple Singers is a key part of Temple Church’s music programme. Performing at weekly services (and the majority of special services such as weddings and memorials), the Singers' members come from a wide range of musical backgrounds. What unites them is their ability to perform a wide range of repertoire - from early masterpieces to specially commissioned works. In an effort to challenge and inspire audiences, Temple Singers programmes often feature music from different eras linked by imaginative themes.

Influenced by the unique acoustics, history and musical legacy of Temple Church, the vocal group has become known for its inventive and bold programming. Recent concert highlights including performances of Spem in Alium by Tallis, Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir and new works written as part the choir’s new music partnership with Choir & Organ Magazine. Concerts with period orchestra have included Handel’s Dixit Dominus, several cantatas and the St John Passion by Bach, and commissions by British composers Anna Semple and Cheryl Frances-Hoad.

Members of the Temple Singers play a key role in mentoring on the Temple Church choral scholars programme, established in 2022 to provide performance  opportunities for young artists embarking on a professional singing career.
